Work App Won’t Copy Into a Personal App? Check Intune App Protection

An employee can open a work document but cannot paste its content into another app. Reinstalling the phone may not address the issue if the restriction is intentional.
Start by recording the source app, destination app, account used, and exact message. Keep the document’s confidential contents out of screenshots and support requests.
Identify the work context
Microsoft’s app protection overview describes how policies protect organizational data in supported apps. Personal and work accounts can have different handling within the same application.
Ask the administrator whether the attempted transfer matches an assigned data-protection rule. Do not assume that every restriction is a malfunction.
Distinguish app protection from device enrollment
Microsoft explains that app protection can protect data on unmanaged personal devices. The appropriate design still depends on supported apps, platforms, licensing, and the organization’s requirements.
Installing an app or enrolling a device does not, by itself, establish what transfers should be allowed.
Find an approved workflow
Explain the employee’s intended task: sharing a customer file, working with an approved colleague, or saving a document for later. The administrator can compare that need with the permitted apps and destinations.
Do not use personal email, screenshots, or an unapproved storage account to get around the restriction. If a policy change is justified, have the authorized owner assess and test it.
